Entrepreneurship - Frequently Asked Questions (with Answers)
1. Why study entrepreneurship?
It develops ways of thinking that build upon enquiry, curiosity and problem solving
2. How to study entrepreneurship?
By studying the unit(s) within the chosen qualification you will be gaining new skills, extending your current skills and building knowledge for now and the future. Learning activities will be set in your studies. These activities will enable you to see how entrepreneurship can improve your performance at work, enhance the work of your team and create options for yourself and others.
3. What use is entrepreneurship?
In work, in a team, at home-these locations will enable you to acquire and share your knowledge for self-improvement and improvement of your organisation. Learning and practicing entrepreneurship makes you more valuable as a person, a team member, an employer and even as an entrepreneur. Knowledge and skills will be acquired by studying entrepreneurship. Repeating these skills will enable development and growth to occur. Knowledge, skills, understanding and behaviours all fit together in one whole.
4. Is entrepreneurship ongoing?
Entrepreneurship is best seen as a continuous activity whereby learning moves forward with time. What we learn we can experience and reflect on so as to improve. Embedding entrepreneurship into your daily and weekly activities will allow for growth and greater contributions both to your organisation, any future employer and yourself.
5. How does entrepreneurship work with others?
When we share by giving out more than we take back we become contributors. In the agricultural cycle seeds come first. Such seeds are ideas when planted in fertile ground and minds grow and lead to welcome harvest after wise cultivation. Not all of the harvest is used each year; some is retained for next year’s seeds. When this analogy is applied to ourselves, we see the true value of shared learning.
6. Does entrepreneurship help me control the direction of my life?
Yes, entrepreneurship allows you to think and act in ways that make you valuable to yourself and others. Better performance rests in part from learning and using that knowledge. Thinking and acting is the key to success.
7. Who else can help me with entrepreneurship?
There are many sources; your teachers, your access to written materials, business and social networks, family and friends- all can help you. Feedback from others is important in using entrepreneurship to good use. Make sure that the feedback you seek is positive and encourages growth rather than negative. All seeds of ideas need a climate conducive for growth and careful attention. Asking for help with entrepreneurship is a sign of a willingness to grow.
8. Is entrepreneurship just for business and management studies?
Most subjects can benefit from an entrepreneurial way of thinking. Thinking big and thinking differently can apply to all areas of study. The College offering is specially designed to help learners to grow, be more valuable and to help others.
9. Where does confidence fit into entrepreneurship?
Having the ability and the desire to act on your ideas comes with confidence. An attitude of “I can” is half the way to success. Our attitude assists in developing confidence as our attitude determines our altitude.
10. What are the next steps?
Think about the true purposes of your studies. Use entrepreneurship to take you on a journey of discovery where to travel is greater than to arrive. Good wishes for your studies and their applications.
